RIP Subaru Impreza WRX & STi

Sad day for Scooby fans...

A Subaru spokesman has confirmed today that the Impreza and WRX STi are going to be dropped in the UK.

Stocks of the current model will be run out, then there will be no more imported, nor will they be selling the new Impreza. This isn’t such a hardship though as it’s quite hideous to look at.

The Impreza has gained a massive cult following over the years, dating back to the legendary rallying days with the late great Colin McRae, followed by the Scooby Vs Evo debates that raged on for most of the 90s.

But demand had slipped too much for the latest Impreza, mainly due to the outdated interior and poor emissions/economy. It still offered a massive amount of performance for the money though, especially since in August this year they dropped the price of the WRX STi to £26,995 – a massive drop. That could be joined by the 340R upgrade which gave 340 bhp for £1599.

Subaru are focusing on the more niche side of the range in the UK now, with the Forrester, XV and the new BRZ coupe.
