VW reveals the Scirocco GTS

Revives the classic sporting name from the Mk2...

Volkswagen has revealed the new Scirocco GTS in honour of the 30th Anniversary of the Mark II GTS.

Featuring a 2.0 litre turbo engine that produces 201 bhp, the Scirocco GTS allegedly recalls the sporty racing style of the 70s and 80s with racing stripes that cover the hood, roof, roof spoiler and tailgate. It also features slightly more aggressive front and rear bumpers, flared side skirts, body-colour side mouldings, mirror caps that match the racing stripes, 18-inch black and polished "Thunder" alloy wheels, red painted brake calipers and GTS badges on the fenders. The rear diffuser and roof spoiler are taken directly from the more powerful Scirocco R.

The interior features black leather seats with red trim accents and stitching plus the famous golf ball shift knob returns just as it was in the first Golf GTI, but also in the 1982 Scirocco GTS – though only on the manual model. The DSG model pictured does without the nostalgic knob.

Pricing hasn’t been announced for the UK but expect a slight price hike over the standard Scirocco 2.0t GT’s £24,600.
