VW Up! launched in the UK
The all-new Volkswagen Up city car will cost from £7995 and is available to order now.
Three engine variants are available – two 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol units as well as a BlueMotion Technology version – with three trim levels to choose from. These include Take Up, Move Up, and High Up, as well as two special editions: ‘Up Black’ or ‘Up White’.
Entry-level Take Up models are powered by the 59bhp engine variant and get daytime running lights as standard.
For £8970, the Move Up adds body-coloured door mirrors and handles, remote central locking, air-conditioning and electric front windows.
A further £360 buys the BlueMotion Technology Take Up, which includes a stop-start system to enhance fuel economy from the standard engine’s 62.7mpg to 67.2mpg. Emissions are also reduced from 105g km CO2 to 97g/km CO2, making the car exempt from road tax and the London Congestion Charge.
Top spec High Up versions are priced from £10,390 and come equipped with the more powerful 74bhp engine. Features of the High Up include heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, electric and heated door mirrors and VW’s ‘Maps and More infotainment’ device. Externally, the High Up gets front fog lights and 15-inch alloys.
Special edition Up Black and Up White cars cost from £11,180 and are based on High Up models. They add deep black pearl or pure white metallic paint, chrome door mirror caps, door side strips, 16-inch alloys and stripes in the cabin applied to the upholstery and carpet mats.
All models are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and launch cars come in three-door guise only. Five-door cars will be available in the second half of 2012.
