Maserati reveals the GranTurismo Sport

The GT-S is dead, long live the Sport!

Maserati has released the first images and a few details for the new GranTurismo Sport that will be unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6th.

The Sport replaces the company's best-selling GranTurismo S. It would be better described as a facelift but the name change enables the marketing team to present it as a new vehicle.

As before the GranTurismo’s personality is dominated by the Ferrari-derived 4.7-litre V8 engine that produces 460 bhp which should allow the sports car to accelerate from 0-62mph in under 5 seconds. Two transmissions choices will be offered on the Sport. The standard gearbox is a six-speed torque converter automatic, while a six-speed sequential manual transaxle ’box comes as an option. The latter has steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a feature that’s optional with the auto ’box.

Visually the GranTurismo Sport receives a new front end look featuring a restyled front bumper very similar to the one found on the MC Stradale and headlights with DRL Led technology. The rear also gets an update with the taillights getting a smoked finish whilst the interior gets a new steering wheel and aggressive upgrade.

Full official specifications are yet to be released, but we should expect to see these to be revealed next month along with more images and hopefully a video of the incredible sound it will make.
