Lexus reveals LF-LC Concept
After some grainy images got leaked onto the internet yesterday, Lexus has today officially revealed the LF-LC Concept that they will be showing at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
Using some of the design language seen on the new GS and the LFA Supercar, the LF-LC takes the ‘L-Finesse’ design language to a new peak, with taught muscular surfaces and an aggressive nose. It certainly takes the relatively boring and staid Lexus image and gives it a shot of youth.
There is a high rear end similar to the LFA combined with sculpted sides and a full length panoramic roof. Large alloy wheels hide an impressive braking setup as well, but all these are mainly just concept trinkets. What is more interesting is the concept’s name.
LF generally means Lexus Future, and ‘LC’ could mean that this is a coupe version of the LS saloon. This would fit in with test mules that have been spotted around Japan, and would give Lexus a replacement for the now-defunct SC.
We would expect the car to have a folding hard top roof, and be powered by Lexus’s Hybrid drivetrain technology only. So we could expect an LC 450h and an LC 600h with 340 bhp and 440 bhp respectively.
We hope Lexus persevere with this Coupe, as their tech, reliability, quality, performance and economy are second to none and this would inject a serious shot of desirability into the range.
