Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series spied testing for the first time.

Our favourite AMG is about to get a massive shot of steroids…

It has been rumored for a long time, but here are the first spy photos proving that the 2013 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series is coming.

Caught at a testing center in Germany, the prototype has a wide body kit with a modified front fascia, revised side skirts and extended wheelarches. We can also see high-performance brakes and larger rear wheels which hint at some changes to the rear axle. In line with previous Black Series models and especially the last C63 Black Series, we can expect a track option as well, which should add a large carbon rear wing and extra carbon on the front bumper.

Under the hood, rumors suggest the 6.3-liter (6,208cc) V8 engine could deliver as much as 650b hp and 599 lb-ft of torque. This will likely enable the car to accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 200mph.

Also rumoured are carbon fibre doors, bonnet and wings for this AMG Black Series, going someway towards what a Merc insider has said will be “a significant weight loss”. We take that to mean over 150kg in Merc-parlance. What is guaranteed though, is that this SLS will sound even more aggressive than the standard car which isn’t an easy task.

We look forward to seeing and hearing one in the metal.
