Renault Alpine concept car leaked - UPDATE: Official Info & Pics added!
Normally we don’t post up ‘leaked’ images, but we just had to get this one out into the internetwebspherecloud thingy. Images of the Renault Alpine A110-50 concept have been leaked ahead of the scheduled debut later today. The leaked images are taken from a video which seems to be from Yahoo Auto. Someone won’t be happy at Yahoo… (UPDATE: Official images now above)
Designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original Alpine A110 model, the concept features aggressive styling that is heavily influenced by the DeZir concept. In fact, it’s pretty safe to say that Renault probably used most of the same moulds for this concept. The A110-50 Concept is styled as a racing car and as such features a carbon fibre body, a large diffuser and a massive rear wing. Inside, the cabin has Alcantara sport seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a roll cage and not much else.
Underneath the bespoke body work there's a tubular chassis that is based on the Renault Megane Trophy. The A110-50 is powered by a 3.5 litre V6 engine with around 400 bhp, that also happens to power the Megane Trophy.
Hopefully this concept will morph into a return of the Alpine brand with a small 2-seater sports car. We’d like to see it weighing no more than 1000 kg with a 2.0 litre 265 bhp engine from the Megane 265 Cup road car, and costing under £35,000. And of course, pigs may fly…
