2nd Hand Spotlight: Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6
Incredible timeless styling penned by the legendary Pininfarina. The classic Italian combination of red exterior and tan interior. One of the best engines ever made. All for £650. What could go wrong?
Quite a lot, as it goes, but that doesn’t stop us lusting after this Alfa Romeo GTV.
Ask most people what kind of car they would be able to get for £650 and they would probably suggest an old Fiesta, some sort of Vauxhall Vectra or maybe a mega-mileage Volvo. What they wouldn’t expect is a 220 bhp, 149 mph Italian coupe.
But that’s what we see for sale in this, the first of our new 2nd Hand Spotlight features. The Alfa Romeo GTV bucks the trend for sportscars by being front wheel drive, but has truly beautiful styling and a gorgeous interior covered in lots of finest leather. It was available with a rather disappointing 150 bhp 2.0 litre four cylinder motor, but the one you wanted - the proper engine, was the 3.0 litre V6. With the amazing polished exhaust manifold this engine is widely regarded as one of the most iconic of all time, making an incredible sound.
This GTV has done 88,000 miles, so will undoubtedly be needing a full service (& probably a cambelt change). It’s also lacking the highly desirable ‘teledial’ alloys and aero kit, but it’s red, has got tan leather and that V6, all for the price of a top spec iPad.
That makes it an absolute bargain, now someone please go out there and get it bought...
